Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Telemetry RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of cardiac experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Night shift, 3x12 hours (6:45 PM-7:15 AM), 36 hours per week
• Contracts of 13-26 weeks accepted
• Cardiac Telemetry unit with 1:6 patient ratio
• Patient population includes atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, PVD/PAD, vasculitis, and carotid stenosis
• Supports post-procedure care including CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO (Watchman), VATS, carotid endarterectomy, fem-pop bypass, amputations, and other cardiac/thoracic surgeries
• Utilizes arterial lines (not required), Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-Stop, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wires
• Charting and communication via EPIC, Pyxis, and SBAR
• Float required as needed
• Weekend coverage required: 4 shifts per 4-week period
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license (pending acceptable at submission)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of cardiac floor experience required
• MS/Tele or Step-down experience preferred
• Experience with sheath management and removal
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management and chest tube care (Emerson/PleurEVAC)
• Experience managing and titrating cardiac drips
• Experience with post-MI and pre/post cardiac catheterization care
• Radial artery line experience preferred
• Wound care/wound vac experience preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Epic charting experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide cardiac telemetry nursing care including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• May be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualties
• Unit orientation is 24 hours with weekly orientation schedule
• Scrub requirement: navy blue pants with white top
• Must complete pre-start and annual online modules (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles)
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved if not on a holiday; no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
• First-time travelers considered only if they have more than 24 months of cardiac experience
• Previous Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before reapplying, with facility approval required
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a local rate
• Travel pairs allowed if assigned to different units with separate transportation
