Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a Level I trauma center requiring at least 3 years of OR experience and an active IL license.
Details
- Level I trauma acute care hospital with 562 staffed beds and a 23-room OR
- Day shift schedule of 5x8-hour shifts from 0645-1515
- Works with all service lines except CV
- On-call requirement of approximately 1 shift per week
- Weekend requirement of 1 per month
- Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities, though rarely needed within skill set
- Uses Cerner charting system
- Block schedules are not accommodated
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required, in hand or in process at time of application
- BLS certification required; CNOR and CST preferred
- Minimum 3 years of OR experience required
- General OR and Level I trauma experience required
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- Experience required in general surgery cases including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, laparoscopic procedures, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, and Whipple procedures
- Experience required in neurology cases including cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, and lumbar fusion
- Experience required in orthopedic cases including arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, and open/closed fracture reductions
- Experience required in urology cases including cystoscopy, nephrectomy, and prostatectomy
- Experience required in trauma cases including amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, and multi-injury MVAs
- Experience required in bariatric laparoscopic assisted cases
- Experience required in free flap microvascular plastic surgery procedures
- Experience required in organ donation/transplant procedures
- Required emergency management skills including code response, fire safety, latex allergy protocol, and malignant hyperthermia management
- Required equipment experience with electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Hana tables
- Required professional knowledge in blood product administration, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, Universal Protocol time-out procedures, and urinary bladder catheterization
- Prior travel experience required
- SSN and date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- Magnet-designated, Level I trauma acute care hospital
- Scrubs provided for this role
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
- Previous PERM or PRN employees of the health system must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- All requested time off must be reviewed and approved by the facility manager
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- Housing availability in the area is limited
