Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position requiring an active NY RN license, EPIC experience, and 2 years of ER experience.

Details

• Adult/pediatric combined Emergency Department at a teaching hospital
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7p-7a
• 13-week contract length
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required, if needed
• Float required within skillset
• Patient ratio of 1:5 covering adult and geriatric emergency diagnoses
• Uses Bair Hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling equipment
• EPIC charting experience required
• Scrub color: any combination of navy blue and white

Requirements

• Active New York Single State RN license required in hand (NY is not Compact)
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; PALS and TNCC preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Arterial line management experience preferred
• Experience with CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator management
• Experience administering continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and IV vasopressors
• Procedural sedation administration/monitoring experience
• Experience managing CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and TBI patients
• Hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun experience preferred
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation/management and obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and triage
• Ortho trauma experience required
• Experience managing psychiatric patients, acute psychosis, drug overdose, violent behavior, and suicidal patients
• Experience with gunshot wounds and traumatic amputation preferred
• STEMI and Stroke Certified Facility experience preferred

• RNs residing within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Previous employees must wait 6 months system-wide before reapplying
• All time off and scheduling requests must be submitted at time of consideration
• Facility may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract without incurring charges
