Description

American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric Oncology RN for a night shift inpatient position requiring a CA RN license, BSN, and 2 years of peds oncology experience.

Details

• Inpatient pediatric oncology unit
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Uses Epic charting system
• May float to other UCSF facilities within a 75+ mile radius as needed

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• BSN required
• Current AHA BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Oncology/Inpatient Oncology experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• 2 references from most recent employer required for consideration
• APHON certification preferred
• Chemo (ONS/ONCC) certification preferred
• Hem/Onc experience preferred

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include chemotherapy administration, port access and management, and central line/PICC line care
• Manage oncologic emergencies including tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression
• Provide symptom management for nausea, neuropathy, mucositis, and altered mental status
• Administer antiemetics, corticosteroids, antitumor agents, and other oncology-related medications
• Care for patients with brain cancer, leukemia, blood dyscrasias, and lymphoma
• Provide patient and family education and psychosocial support
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
• Travel pairs allowed but generally not placed on the same unit; married couples may not work on the same unit
• All RTO must be disclosed at time of consideration and approved by the manager prior to start; no additional requests accepted mid-contract, and RTO cannot fall within the first two weeks of the assignment
• Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed, including dates, units, and manager names, for rehire eligibility review
