Description
American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric Oncology RN for a night shift inpatient position requiring a CA RN license, BSN, and 2 years of peds oncology experience.
Details
- Inpatient pediatric oncology unit
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Uses Epic charting system
- May float to other UCSF facilities within a 75+ mile radius as needed
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- BSN required
- Current AHA BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Oncology/Inpatient Oncology experience required
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Epic charting experience preferred
- 2 references from most recent employer required for consideration
- APHON certification preferred
- Chemo (ONS/ONCC) certification preferred
- Hem/Onc experience preferred
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include chemotherapy administration, port access and management, and central line/PICC line care
- Manage oncologic emergencies including tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression
- Provide symptom management for nausea, neuropathy, mucositis, and altered mental status
- Administer antiemetics, corticosteroids, antitumor agents, and other oncology-related medications
- Care for patients with brain cancer, leukemia, blood dyscrasias, and lymphoma
- Provide patient and family education and psychosocial support
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
- Travel pairs allowed but generally not placed on the same unit; married couples may not work on the same unit
- All RTO must be disclosed at time of consideration and approved by the manager prior to start; no additional requests accepted mid-contract, and RTO cannot fall within the first two weeks of the assignment
- Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed, including dates, units, and manager names, for rehire eligibility review
