Description
American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring an active State or Compact RN license, 2 years of experience, and prior travel nursing experience.
Details
- Medical-Surgical unit within a hospital setting
- 3x12-hour night shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Care for patients with sepsis, CIWA, confusion, AMS, COPD, AKI, trauma, respiratory failure, bowel obstruction, pyelonephritis, cardiac conditions, diabetes, GI conditions, and isolation precautions
- Epic EMR used for charting
- Must be able to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays
Requirements
- Active RN license (State or Compact) required, ID or compact license accepted
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience preferred
- Travel nursing experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level II experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, central line and PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Experienced in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, and non-invasive airway support
- Proficient in GI, GU/renal, and neuro/psych care including bowel obstruction, CBI, CVA, and substance withdrawal management
- Experienced administering high-risk medications such as heparin, insulin, and PCA
- Skilled in wound care, wound vac management, isolation precautions, and PPE use
- Experienced in cardiac monitoring and rapid response/code team participation

- Care spans all age groups from infants to geriatrics
- Responsible for thorough documentation in compliance with regulatory and hospital standards
- Must maintain composure and professionalism in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
- Onboarding modules completed onsite during orientation
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
- Previous staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
- No travel pairs or groups accepted
- No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
