Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring an active State or Compact RN license, 2 years of experience, and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Medical-Surgical unit within a hospital setting
• 3x12-hour night shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Care for patients with sepsis, CIWA, confusion, AMS, COPD, AKI, trauma, respiratory failure, bowel obstruction, pyelonephritis, cardiac conditions, diabetes, GI conditions, and isolation precautions
• Epic EMR used for charting
• Must be able to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays

Requirements

• Active RN license (State or Compact) required, ID or compact license accepted
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience preferred
• Travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, central line and PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experienced in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, and non-invasive airway support
• Proficient in GI, GU/renal, and neuro/psych care including bowel obstruction, CBI, CVA, and substance withdrawal management
• Experienced administering high-risk medications such as heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Skilled in wound care, wound vac management, isolation precautions, and PPE use
• Experienced in cardiac monitoring and rapid response/code team participation

• Care spans all age groups from infants to geriatrics
• Responsible for thorough documentation in compliance with regulatory and hospital standards
• Must maintain composure and professionalism in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
• Onboarding modules completed onsite during orientation
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• Previous staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• No travel pairs or groups accepted
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
