Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a high-volume orthopedic surgery center requiring a SC or compact RN license and at least one year of OR experience.
Details
- Ambulatory surgery center setting with five ORs specializing in high-volume orthopedic procedures
- Uses Arthrex Vision systems with integration
- Cares for a variety of orthopedic cases including total joints, foot & ankle, hand/wrist, shoulder/elbow, and open and arthroscopic sports surgeries
- Some limited spine and rehabilitation procedures performed
- Day shift schedule of 4x10 hour shifts, 6:30am-5pm, with occasional late shifts a few times per month
- Scheduled day off determined by department needs, with special requests considered when possible
- No on-call requirements
- Possible floating within the Periop facility to meet needs
- Epic EMR experience preferred
Requirements
- Active SC or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room experience required
- Experience in lower and upper extremity total joints, foot & ankle, hand/wrist, shoulder/elbow, and open/arthroscopic sports surgeries preferred
- Radiation safety, laser safety, and infection control skills preferred
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, specimen handling/labeling, starting peripheral IVs, and wound management preferred
- Experience with universal protocol (time-out) procedures and urinary bladder catheterization preferred
- Scrub ability for arthroscopic and orthopedic surgeries a plus, not required
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Valid driver's license and SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Work closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and OR nurses to provide safe and effective patient care in a fast-paced environment
- Radiation badge to be provided by parent company
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Local candidates accepted within a 60-mile radius, though non-local candidates are prioritized
- Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
- All requested time off must be submitted in advance and is subject to facility approval
- May be called off up to 10 hours per two-week period based on facility needs
- Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June through November)
