Description

American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry RN for a Neuro/Ortho unit requiring 1+ year of specialty experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Details

• Neuro/Ortho unit within a hospital setting
• 25-bed unit with 40+ staff members
• Day shift staffing includes 1 free charge, 1 unit coordinator, 3 PCTs, and 5 RNs; night shift includes 5 RNs and 1 PCT
• Patient ratios of 6:1, sometimes 5:1
• Uses Baxter IV pumps, KCI wound vacs, and SCD pumps
• Meditech EMR system used
• Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 13-week assignment length

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Current ACLS certification required
• Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of assignment start
• 1 year of recent Telemetry experience required
• Meditech EMR experience preferred
• Telemetry experience preferred
• Experience managing chest tubes preferred
• Experience managing non-titrated Cardizem and Amiodorone drips preferred
• Experience managing weight-based heparin drips preferred
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to neuro/ortho patient population in addition to general med/surg competencies
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for the position
