Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN - Mother/Baby with WA or compact licensure and at least 1 year of L&D/postpartum experience for a Level II Perinatal Center.

Details

• Birth Center unit within a Level III Trauma Center with 375 licensed beds
• Unit includes 9 LDR, 2 OB OR, 2 OB PACU, 11 Level II NICU, 4-bed Peds, 20-bed Mother/Baby, 18-bed START perinatal addiction unit, and 3 OB ED beds
• Level II Perinatal Center caring for patients 32 weeks and above
• Handles hypertension, magnesium administration, substance abuse medication management, epidurals, fetal monitoring, and IV management
• Approximately 175-200 deliveries per month
• Patient ratios follow AWHONN/NANN guidelines: 1:1 for active labor, 1:2 for non-active laboring
• 12-hour day/night shifts (0700-1900 or 1900-0700) on a 3-week schedule cycle
• Rotating weekends required every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating limited to areas of competency, with travelers floating between L&D and Mother/Baby only (not START unit)
• Uses Epic Stork and GE Centricity EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and HUGS security system

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and NRP certification required
• Fetal monitoring certification required (AWHONN or Relias module)
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required
• Strong L&D experience including cervical exams, antepartum/labor care, amnio infusion, epidurals, fetal monitoring, IV therapy, and Pitocin administration
• Postpartum experience beyond the initial 24-hour transition period, including basic breastfeeding support
• Experience with couplet care once mother and baby are stable
• Pyxis medication dispensing experience required

Additional Information

• Deliver comprehensive care across labor, delivery, and postpartum stages including couplet care
• Support team includes 24/7 hospitalist, laborist OBGYN, respiratory therapy, midwife and family practice groups, and NICU consultation for infants 34 weeks or less
• No CNAs on the unit; surgery techs available Monday-Friday 0600-1500 and phlebotomy available as needed
• Orientation includes NEO plus two unit shifts covering delivery and C-section/triage experience, along with core competency and medication exams completed before arrival
• Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor holiday
• RTO requests must be approved through the unit manager
• Scrubs provided and free parking available on-site
