Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position on nights, requiring prior travel nursing experience and an active AR or compact license.
Details
- Float pool role covering Med/Onc, two surgical units, and two medical units within an acute care hospital
- 128-bed unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Surgical patient population includes colorectal, hepatobiliary, bariatric, general, and ortho cases
- Medical patient population includes diabetes, heart disease, COPD, kidney, and GI conditions
- No drip titration required
- Remote tele monitoring in place with only occasional strip reading by RNs
- Nurse aides/patient care techs available on the unit with varying ratios
- Charge nurse present on every shift and also carries a patient assignment
- Uses Cerner EMR, transitioning to Epic in November 2026
- 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with every other weekend required
- No call or standby requirements
- Floating required to any Med/Surg pod within the float zone
Requirements
- Active AR state or compact (NLC) RN license required
- BLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Current, relevant medical/surgical nursing experience required
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care as part of a float pool team, rotating between Med/Onc and surgical and medical units based on facility need
- 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
- Navy scrubs required; scrubs are not provided by the facility
- No holiday coverage requirement for this position
- Candidates who were directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year are not eligible; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
- First-time travelers will not be considered due to the previous travel experience requirement
