Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position requiring an Ohio RRT license and at least 1 year of acute care experience.

Details

  • 700-bed hospital with 7 adult ICUs (16 beds each) plus pediatric and adult acute care units
  • Treats adult, geriatric, and pediatric patients, including Peds ER cases
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour schedule from 18:30 to 07:00
  • Floating required within the Metro Region between Toledo, Flower, and Bay Park Hospitals, including mid-shift floating as needed
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Equipment used includes Servo I, Avea, and Bella Vista ventilators
  • Work settings include Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department

Requirements

  • OH RRT license required (license required if applicable)
  • BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required; PALS preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of acute care experience required, obtained after licensure
  • Epic charting experience required
  • High-risk delivery experience preferred; onsite training available for candidates without this experience
  • ABG interpretation skills required
  • Airway management skills including ET tube/suctioning, extubation, intubation assist, nasal/oral airway placement and suctioning, and tracheostomy care
  • Medication administration experience with Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, inhaled steroids, Perforomist, Pulmicort, racemic epinephrine, Spiriva, and Xopenex
  • Ventilator management skills including BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
  • Experience caring for patients undergoing bronchoscopy
  • Two professional references from within the last 24 months required, with one reference contact submitted within 72 hours of signing
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide general and critical respiratory care for patients with asthma, COPD, emphysema, pneumonia, and other pulmonary and non-pulmonary diagnoses
  • Perform bronchopulmonary hygiene, hyperinflation therapy, and manage invasive and non-invasive ventilation
  • Respond to rapid responses and emergency codes, including performing CPR
  • Assist with intubation and extubation, blood gas sampling, and specimen collection
  • Responsible for changing tubing and bags on invasive and arterial lines at Toledo and Bay Park campuses
  • Grey scrub color required
  • First-time travelers will be considered for this position
  • Local candidates within a 50-mile radius will not be accepted
  • Returning staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year
  • Ohio FBI/BCI fingerprinting required for certain units such as pediatric, psych, and patient transport, with results taking 4-6 weeks and no exceptions for pending results
  • Requests for time off of 7 or more days require manager approval, and holidays or days surrounding holidays are not eligible
  • Schedules may be adjusted with two weeks notice to balance unit needs

The schedule was 8 hours days the schedule had no flexibility. I used 1 sick day as provided in my contract and they immediately contacted my agency to complain
