Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Pediatric Stepdown RN for a children's hospital unit requiring active IL RN license, vent/trach experience, and prior travel experience.
Details
- Pediatric stepdown unit within an acute care children's hospital
- Single 39-bed unit encompassing all pediatric specialties
- Patient population ages 2 weeks to 18 years, with 50-60% requiring some form of technology dependence
- Chronic illness population including patients with tracheostomies and chronic ventilator dependence
- No drips, surgical, or transitional patients on this unit
- Patient ratio of 1:3-4
- Day shift schedule, either 3x12 or 4x12 hours (7:00-19:30)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
- Block scheduling accommodated
- Meditech EMR used
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required in hand at time of consideration (compact licenses not accepted)
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- 1:4 patient ratio experience required
- Vent, tracheostomy, and G-tube care experience required
- Meditech charting experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Flu vaccine required, with medical and religious exemptions accepted
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care for children with chronic illness, including tracheostomy and ventilator management, and gastric tube care
- Scrubs may be any color as long as neat and clean; pediatric-themed scrubs encouraged
- Facility will not consider candidates who previously worked as permanent staff at this facility or its affiliated clinics
- RTO must be approved and included in the contract prior to the start date; no RTO may be added after the contract begins
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
- Candidates with a pending IL RN license may be considered
- First-time travelers will not be accepted for this role
