Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Pediatric Stepdown RN for a children's hospital unit requiring active IL RN license, vent/trach experience, and prior travel experience.

Details

• Pediatric stepdown unit within an acute care children's hospital
• Single 39-bed unit encompassing all pediatric specialties
• Patient population ages 2 weeks to 18 years, with 50-60% requiring some form of technology dependence
• Chronic illness population including patients with tracheostomies and chronic ventilator dependence
• No drips, surgical, or transitional patients on this unit
• Patient ratio of 1:3-4
• Day shift schedule, either 3x12 or 4x12 hours (7:00-19:30)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• Block scheduling accommodated
• Meditech EMR used

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand at time of consideration (compact licenses not accepted)
• BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• 1:4 patient ratio experience required
• Vent, tracheostomy, and G-tube care experience required
• Meditech charting experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Flu vaccine required, with medical and religious exemptions accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care for children with chronic illness, including tracheostomy and ventilator management, and gastric tube care
• Scrubs may be any color as long as neat and clean; pediatric-themed scrubs encouraged
• Facility will not consider candidates who previously worked as permanent staff at this facility or its affiliated clinics
• RTO must be approved and included in the contract prior to the start date; no RTO may be added after the contract begins
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Candidates with a pending IL RN license may be considered
• First-time travelers will not be accepted for this role
