Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Pediatric Stepdown RN for a children's hospital unit requiring an active IL RN license, PALS certification, and ventilator/tracheostomy care experience.

Details

• Inpatient pediatric stepdown unit with 39 beds caring for patients from 2 weeks to 18 years old
• Unit encompasses all specialties, with 50-60% of patients having some form of technology dependence
• Patient ratio of 1:3-4
• Day shift schedule offered as 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (7:00-19:30)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Float within scope required to meet facility needs
• Open to accommodating a block schedule
• Uses Meditech charting system

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand at time of submission (compact licenses not accepted)
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Experience with ventilators, tracheostomy, and G-tube care required
• 1:4 patient ratio experience required
• Meditech charting experience required
• Flu vaccine required (medical and religious exemptions accepted)
• Previous travel nursing experience required

Additional Information

• Acute care unit caring for chronically ill pediatric patients, including those with tracheostomies and chronic ventilator dependence
• Unit does not include drip, surgical, or transitional patients
• Care responsibilities include respiratory support, tracheostomy care, and management of gastric tubes
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Previous staff members of the facility or affiliated clinics will not be considered for this assignment
• Any RTO must be approved and included in the contract prior to start date, with no additions allowed after the contract begins
• Scrub color is open (any color), with pediatric-themed scrubs encouraged
• Free parking available in shared lots on facility grounds
