Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Pediatric Stepdown RN for a children's hospital unit requiring an active IL RN license, PALS certification, and ventilator/tracheostomy care experience.
Details
- Inpatient pediatric stepdown unit with 39 beds caring for patients from 2 weeks to 18 years old
- Unit encompasses all specialties, with 50-60% of patients having some form of technology dependence
- Patient ratio of 1:3-4
- Day shift schedule offered as 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (7:00-19:30)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Float within scope required to meet facility needs
- Open to accommodating a block schedule
- Uses Meditech charting system
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required in hand at time of submission (compact licenses not accepted)
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Experience with ventilators, tracheostomy, and G-tube care required
- 1:4 patient ratio experience required
- Meditech charting experience required
- Flu vaccine required (medical and religious exemptions accepted)
- Previous travel nursing experience required
Additional Information
- Acute care unit caring for chronically ill pediatric patients, including those with tracheostomies and chronic ventilator dependence
- Unit does not include drip, surgical, or transitional patients
- Care responsibilities include respiratory support, tracheostomy care, and management of gastric tubes
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
- Previous staff members of the facility or affiliated clinics will not be considered for this assignment
- Any RTO must be approved and included in the contract prior to start date, with no additions allowed after the contract begins
- Scrub color is open (any color), with pediatric-themed scrubs encouraged
- Free parking available in shared lots on facility grounds
