Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist II for a pediatric unit, requiring RRT certification and 2+ years of experience including Pediatrics, PICU, and/or NICU care.

Details

• Pediatric Respiratory Care Services unit within an academic medical center
• Night shift, 7:00pm to 7:00am
• 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, 0.9 FTE
• On-call required approximately 1 weekend per 6 weeks
• Weekend commitment of 6 shifts per 6 weeks
• Availability for holiday coverage required as needed
• Epic EMR experience required
• Oscillatory ventilator experience within the last 5 years required
• May involve transport of pediatric and neonatal patients via Carolina Air Care per UNC Air Care Protocol
• May involve ECMO management for cardiac and respiratory support

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Current RRT certification through the NBRC
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• Recent experience in Pediatrics, PICU, and/or NICU required
• Oscillatory ventilator experience within the last 5 years
• Epic EMR experience required
• At least one of the following certifications depending on practice area: ACLS, NRP, PALS, CPFT, or an advanced practice certificate for moderate sedation in the Bronchoscopy Lab
• License required if applicable
• Strong clinical documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Additional Information

• Administer airway management, mechanical ventilator management, oxygen therapy, and aerosol therapy
• Perform tracheostomy care, tracheostomy tube changes, endotracheal intubation, and extubation
• May perform bedside pulmonary function testing and arterial punctures
• May perform advanced procedures such as UAC/UVC insertion, IV insertion, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, ABG analysis, and blood glucose monitoring under Air Care Protocol
• Set up, monitor, and manage ventilators using specialized modes, including weaning techniques
• Function independently with minimal supervision and serve as a clinical resource to other staff
• Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, families, and staff regarding clinical information
