Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry position requiring 1+ years of total travel experience and a CA RN license in hand.

Details

• Work in the Telemetry unit of a hospital environment
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
• 1:4 patient ratio
• May be required to float down to like or lower acuity units across the organization (excluding the ED) and occasionally to other campuses/locations within the health system's 5 hospitals
• Required to work 4 weekend shifts within a 4 week cycle
• Required to work at least one holiday, including the holiday weekend
• Uses EPIC EMR system

Requirements

• Active CA RN license in hand at time of consideration (Temporary or Permanent, no EMSA)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA required, no pending certifications accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of previous charge experience
• Minimum 1 year TOTAL travel experience required with 6+ months of continuous travel experience leading up to time of consideration
• 1.5 years continuous experience in specialty required, with no breaks going to other units unless floating or demonstrating equivalent experience with same ratios
• Community hospital experience required
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• EPIC or combined EPIC/Cerner experience required within the last 6 months
• 1 supervisory level reference required
• Experience with neurological/psychiatric conditions including CVA, intracranial bleeds, seizure disorders, and traumatic brain injury
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, and oxygen administration
• Experience with IV therapy, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation, pacemakers, and pre/post cardiac cath care
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry nursing care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration required)
• Administer IV insulin protocols and manage insulin drip titration
• Care for patients with renal failure, including continuous bladder irrigation and hemodialysis management
• Not eligible for consideration if on assignment in San Diego for 9+ months (considered local)
• Must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for consideration
• No first-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Former permanent staff and travelers must wait 1 year before returning to this health system
• Maximum 7 days RTO permitted, with no additional requests after consideration
• International travelers must have 1 year of recent or current experience working in the U.S.
