Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift Resource Pool position requiring an active NY RN license and at least 1 year of specialty experience.
Details
- Float position within the Med/Surg Tele Resource Pool, including coverage for ED Hold patients
- Patient population spans Med/Surg Oncology, Ortho, and Urology units with ages ranging 25-99
- Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5 depending on unit
- Utilizes IV pumps and bladder scanners as unit equipment
- Charts in Epic, with medication administration transitioning from MAK to Epic
- 12-hour night shifts scheduled 7:00 PM-7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
- Requires working every other weekend at minimum
- Floating required across telemetry units (R5, R6, R7) and potentially other tele units
- No self-scheduling and no on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active NY RN license (or proof of pending application) required
- AHA BLS certification required; CMSRN preferred
- NIHSS certification required prior to start
- Minimum 1 year of RN clinical experience required
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Med/Surg Tele specialty required
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years is required
Additional Information
- Daily responsibilities include IV insertion, bladder scans, blood draws from central lines, and glucose monitoring
- May be required to float to the ED to support ED Hold patients
- Holiday coverage required for 2 of the following 3: Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, and New Year's Day/Eve
- Dress code includes navy blue and white solid-color scrubs, comfortable shoes, minimal jewelry, groomed hair/beard, and no acrylic nails
- One day of orientation provided, with bi-weekly start dates
- No block scheduling permitted
- Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended due to limited public transportation access
- All-season or snow tires recommended for vehicles from November through April
- Facility is a Level 2 trauma center
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted with rate tiers based on mileage: local (50 miles or less), radius (51-100 miles), and travel (101+ miles)
