Description
American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Telemetry RN for a resource pool/float position requiring an active NY RN license and at least one year of clinical experience.
Details
- Float RN role within the Resource Pool covering three Med/Surg Telemetry units (R5, R6, R7) plus ED Hold coverage
- R5 unit focuses on Med Surg Oncology, R6 on Med Surg Ortho, and R7 on Med Surg Urology/ALC patients ranging in age from 25-99
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are R5 1:4, R6 1:4, and R7 1:5, with adjustments as needed
- 12-hour night shifts scheduled 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM for 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend work required with schedule adjusted to meet unit needs
- Floating required across R5, R6, R7, and potentially other telemetry units
- Holiday coverage required for 2 of the following 3 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, and New Year's Day/Eve
- No on-call requirements
- Uses EPIC for documentation and is transitioning to EPIC for medication administration from MAK
- Utilizes IV pumps and bladder scanners as specialized equipment
- 24/7 respiratory therapy support available on the unit
- Located within a Level 2 Trauma facility with 341 total beds
Requirements
- Active NY RN license required
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience required
- AHA BLS certification required; CMSRN preferred
- NIHSS certification required prior to starting the assignment
- EPIC experience within the past 2 years required
- Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended due to lack of public transportation access
- All-season or snow tires recommended for vehicles during November through April
Additional Information
- Provide Med/Surg Telemetry nursing care, including support for ED Hold patients
- CNA/PCT support available on each unit (3 staff per shift on R5 and R6, 4 on R7)
- Unit clerk/secretary support available on each unit
- 1 day of orientation provided, with bi-weekly orientation sessions held on Mondays
- Scrub dress code includes navy blue and white solid colors in any combination
- Minimal jewelry permitted; hair and beards must be groomed; no acrylic nail polish allowed
- No block scheduling permitted for any reason
