Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Surgical ICU RN with prior transplant care experience and an active LA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a high acuity Surgical ICU and Transplant ICU setting
  • 1:2 patient ratio
  • Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15 (4x12 schedules may be accommodated)
  • Float requirement to other ICUs and step-down units
  • No on-call requirement
  • No block scheduling requests accommodated
  • Epic charting system used

Requirements

  • Active RN license (LA or Compact) in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA)
  • Minimum 2 years of SICU/transplant ICU experience required
  • Required transplant experience: liver, heart, lung, kidney, and/or pancreas
  • Experience with post cardiac surgery care directly from the OR required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) preferred
  • Experience with PA catheters and intra-aortic balloon pumps preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Current NURSYS report required, updated within 4 weeks of consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to high acuity surgical and transplant ICU patients
  • Manage complex post-operative recovery including CABG, valve replacement/repair, aortic dissection, IABP, and PA Cath monitoring
  • Care for transplant recovery patients including liver, heart, lung, kidney, and pancreas transplants
  • May be assigned to an emergency response team during declared emergency events, which could require staying onsite until the event concludes
  • Orientation is held five days per week
  • Two Manager/Supervisor references (not Charge RNs) required prior to starting contract, though not required for initial consideration
  • Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
  • Requested RTO must be finalized and included on the candidate profile prior to interview
  • Previous Ochsner Health System employees or in-house agency contractors must have a full year of separation before returning as a travel clinician
