Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for an ENT/Plastic Surgery unit requiring tracheostomy, laryngectomy, and free flap monitoring experience with a MO or compact RN license.

Details

• ENT and Plastic Surgery unit within a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital
• Patient population includes cuffed/cuffless tracheostomies, total laryngectomies, carotid blow out precautions, and free flap patients
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30)
• Telemetry monitoring required on the unit
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
• Epic charting system used

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• 2 years of Med/Surg experience required; 1+ year considered with Level I Trauma or Teaching Facility experience
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience with tracheostomy/total laryngectomy care, drain care, free flap monitoring, tube feeding, and wound care required
• Skilled in IV access, central line management, and phlebotomy required
• BSN preferred
• Prior charge experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide post-operative care including drain management, flap monitoring, tracheostomy/laryngectomy care, and tube feeding
• Care for surgical patients with complex airway and reconstructive needs
• Navy blue scrubs required
• First-time travelers welcome to apply
• No local candidates accepted within 75-mile radius
• Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
• Facial hair must accommodate respirator fit testing or must be shaved with no exceptions
• Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
• Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period before requiring a 3-month break in service
