Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring 1 year of recent experience and a NM or compact RN license.
Details
- 32-bed Medical Surgical unit
- Night shift, 4x12 hours (18:30-07:00)
- Patient to nurse ratio of 1:6
- Rapid response team activation duties
- Floating required to like units within scope, with brief orientation provided
- No on-call requirements
- Weekend commitment of 6 shifts within 6 weeks
- Uses Epic charting system
- 36 or 48 hour scheduling option, with anything over 48 hours considered overtime
Requirements
- Active RN license (NM or Compact) required, pending compact accepted if obtained prior to start
- BLS certification required, CPI preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
- First-time travelers considered with at least 24 months of total nursing experience
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Skills required in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management
- Experience with respiratory care including chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
- Experience with colostomy/ileostomy care and feeding tube management preferred
- Experience administering Heparin, Insulin, and PCA medications
- Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management
- Experience with genitourinary/renal care including pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure
- Experience with surgical drains and plastics care
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical unit with a focus on rapid response readiness
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
- Former staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply with sufficient nursing experience
