Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring an active NY RN license and EPIC charting experience.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting providing telemetry and stepdown-level care
• Adult and geriatric patient population with common diagnoses including long-term pulmonary conditions, ENT surgery, and other surgical procedures requiring stepdown care
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7p-7a
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required, if needed
• Floating required within skillset
• Uses EPIC for charting

Requirements

• Active NY Single State RN license required (NY is not part of the Compact)
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Prior travel experience required
• Experience with telemetry, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Central and peripheral line care/management experience
• Experience managing cardiac drips (no titration)
• Skilled in nasal cannula and oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry and stepdown-level nursing care to adult and geriatric patients
• Work in a Magnet-recognized, academic teaching hospital certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
• Scrubs must be any combination of navy blue and white
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Facility may cancel up to three shifts during a 13-week contract period without incurring charges
• Local RN candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted, though local LPN candidates are accepted
• Previous employees must have a 6-month system-wide break in service to be eligible for rehire
