Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position at a small community hospital, requiring CRT/RRT and state licensure with adult critical care and mechanical ventilation experience.

Details

• Small community hospital respiratory therapy department managing emphysema, asthma, and other respiratory disease processes
• Performs non-invasive ventilation, high flow oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, ABG draws and analysis, and chest physiotherapy
• Invasive ventilation patients are stabilized in the ED and transferred to a sister hospital
• Night shift, 7p-7a, operating on a 7 on/7 off schedule with 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts
• Additional 8-hour Friday shift to complete an 80-hour pay period
• On-call required Friday nights from 1a-7a
• Uses Servo I and LTV 1200 ventilators
• Phillips V60 BiPAP, BiPAP Vision, and Teleflex High Flow Nasal Cannulas preferred equipment
• EPIC EMR experience required

Requirements

• Current CRT or RRT certification required
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• State license required if applicable
• Adult critical care and Emergency Department experience required
• Proficient in extubation, airway placement, suctioning, pulmonary hygiene, sputum specimen collection, and tracheostomy care/management
• Experience administering respiratory medications including Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, Isuprel, Lidocaine, Pulmicort, and others
• Skilled in aerosol therapy set up, MDI, T-piece, trach collar, HFNC, BiPAP, and CPAP
• Ability to troubleshoot high pressure alarms and wean patients from mechanical ventilation
• Ability to interpret Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
• EPIC EMR experience required

• Provide respiratory care services within a small community hospital setting
• Collaborate with emergency department staff to stabilize patients requiring invasive ventilation prior to transfer
• Participate in required on-call coverage as part of the weekly schedule
• Candidates must live 50+ miles from the facility to be considered
