Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a night shift community hospital position requiring 3 years of ER experience and both Kansas and Missouri (or compact) licensure.

Details

  • 8-bed Emergency Department in a single-floor community hospital shared with a med-surg/intermediate unit
  • Average daily census of 60 patients
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
  • 13-week assignment length
  • Weekend shifts required, though frequency varies based on staffing needs
  • Floating required to all community hospital ER units and potentially between departments and facilities
  • No on-call requirements
  • Unit staffed with 1:1 ED RN ratio, 1-2 providers, 1 MSI RN, 1 charge nurse, 1-2 paramedics, radiology tech, and patient access reps
  • Uses EPIC charting system
  • Treats wide-ranging ER cases including ACS, CVA/TIA, respiratory conditions, sepsis, trauma, behavioral health emergencies, and common acute illnesses

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Kansas and Missouri, or compact) required in hand at time of consideration
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
  • TNCC certification preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of ER RN experience required
  • 2 years of recent specialty experience required, with no employment gaps greater than 90 days in the past year
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Community and teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Trauma Level I and II experience preferred
  • Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs, obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG, and administering emergency medications
  • Experience with pediatric and adult ER patient populations
  • SSN required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor-level or above, and one charge RN, both from the past year

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency care across a broad range of medical, surgical, psychiatric, and trauma presentations
  • Work collaboratively within a lean ER team including providers, paramedics, and charge nurses
  • Staff take working lunches due to unit demands
  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
  • No local candidates accepted
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days, which must be finalized at time of submission
  • No new RTO requests permitted after submission or post-offer
  • First-time travelers not accepted for this position
  • Previous BJC/Saint Luke's employees must observe an 18-month tenure policy with a required 3-month break in service
  • Permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's facilities must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Travel partners not accepted
  • Compliance documents due 2 Fridays before start date, with required EMR and equipment training modules completed prior to start
