Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Ortho RN for a day-shift travel assignment requiring a MO or compact RN license and at least 1 year of recent Med Surg/Ortho experience.
Details
- Inpatient Med Surg/Ortho unit with 30 beds
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Medical patient population post trauma, surgical intervention, and with medical comorbidities
- EPIC EMR utilized
- Day shift schedule, 07:00-19:30
- Every other weekend required as needed by facility
- No call requirements
- Floating required as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit
Requirements
- Active RN license (Missouri or Compact) required at time of consideration
- BLS certification from AHA required
- ACLS certification from AHA preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med Surg/Ortho inpatient experience required
- No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required; Canadian SINs not accepted
Additional Information
- Provides direct patient care across all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Coordinates patient care with ancillary departments to optimize comfort and outcomes
- Maintains professional accountability and patient confidentiality per Mercy Service Standards
- Works within scope of the Missouri Nurse Practice Act and Mercy Code of Conduct
- Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
- High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids
- May push/pull/grip up to 50 lbs and occasionally kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Night shift staff orient on day shift and must be available the full orientation week
- Black scrubs required
- Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required November 1 through April 1; declinations not accepted
- RTO of 5 days or less allowed but must be made up during the assignment
- Only 1 holiday RTO request permitted per assignment
- Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius, with a reduced bill rate
- Candidates within 50 miles limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before requiring a 1-year separation or transfer outside the radius
- First-time travelers may be considered
