Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Ortho RN for a day-shift travel assignment requiring a MO or compact RN license and at least 1 year of recent Med Surg/Ortho experience.

Details

• Inpatient Med Surg/Ortho unit with 30 beds
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Medical patient population post trauma, surgical intervention, and with medical comorbidities
• EPIC EMR utilized
• Day shift schedule, 07:00-19:30
• Every other weekend required as needed by facility
• No call requirements
• Floating required as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit

Requirements

• Active RN license (Missouri or Compact) required at time of consideration
• BLS certification from AHA required
• ACLS certification from AHA preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med Surg/Ortho inpatient experience required
• No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months
• Valid U.S. Social Security Number required; Canadian SINs not accepted

Additional Information

• Provides direct patient care across all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Coordinates patient care with ancillary departments to optimize comfort and outcomes
• Maintains professional accountability and patient confidentiality per Mercy Service Standards
• Works within scope of the Missouri Nurse Practice Act and Mercy Code of Conduct
• Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
• High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids
• May push/pull/grip up to 50 lbs and occasionally kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Night shift staff orient on day shift and must be available the full orientation week
• Black scrubs required
• Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required November 1 through April 1; declinations not accepted
• RTO of 5 days or less allowed but must be made up during the assignment
• Only 1 holiday RTO request permitted per assignment
• Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius, with a reduced bill rate
• Candidates within 50 miles limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before requiring a 1-year separation or transfer outside the radius
• First-time travelers may be considered
