Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring a MO or compact RN license and at least 1 year of inpatient med/surg experience.
Details
- Inpatient Med/Surg East unit with 15 beds currently in service and 15 more under construction
- Night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:35 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Patient ratios of 1:5-6 on days and 1:6-7 on nights (not guaranteed)
- No on-call requirements
- May float to other units based on staffing needs
- Uses Nova Meters for blood glucose, Alaris IV pumps, Kangaroo pumps, and SCD machines
- Charting completed in Epic
Requirements
- Active RN license eligible for licensure in Missouri or currently licensed in Missouri (compact accepted)
- BLS certification from AHA required
- ACLS certification from AHA preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient Med/Surg experience required
- No gaps in employment exceeding 90 days within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Provides direct patient care for post-trauma, surgical, and medical comorbidity patients across all age groups
- Coordinates care with ancillary departments and evaluates care provided by other direct caregivers
- Night shift orientation occurs during day shift; traveler must be available the full week for orientation
- Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1, with no declinations accepted
- Black scrubs required; no open-toed shoes or other attire permitted
- RTO of 5 days or less allowed but must be made up by end of assignment
- Only 1 holiday RTO request permitted per assignment
- Physical demands include standing and walking most of shift, frequent bending, lifting, and turning patients with assistance, and push/pull/grip up to 50 lbs
- High risk exposure to blood and body fluids
- Level 2 Trauma Center with Comprehensive Stroke Center and Level 1 STEMI Center designation
- Local candidates accepted with radius-based restrictions on consecutive local contracts
