Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med Surg RN for a night shift inpatient position requiring an active MO or compact RN license and at least 1 year of recent Med Surg experience.
Details
- Inpatient Med Surg unit setting with 15 beds currently, with 15 more under construction
- Med/Surg patient population including post-trauma, surgical, and medical comorbidity cases
- Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:35 AM
- Every other weekend required, per facility needs
- No on-call requirements
- May float to other units depending on staffing needs
- Patient ratios approximately 1:5-6 on days and 1:6-7 on nights, though ratios are not guaranteed
- Uses Nova Meters for blood glucose, Alaris IV pumps, Kangaroo pumps, and SCD machines
- Epic EMR used
Requirements
- Active RN license (Missouri or compact) required
- BLS certification from AHA required
- ACLS certification from AHA preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med Surg inpatient experience required
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required; Canadian SINs not accepted
- No gaps in employment of 90+ days within the past 12 months
- No certifications expiring within the first 30 days of assignment unless renewal documentation is provided
Additional Information
- Utilizes the nursing process to provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all age groups
- Coordinates patient care with ancillary departments to optimize care and comfort
- Maintains professional accountability and evaluates care provided by other direct caregivers
- Maintains patient rights and confidentiality
- Physical demands include standing and walking most of shift, frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance, pushing/pulling/gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, and minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
- High risk exposure to blood and body fluids
- Night shift staff orient on day shift and must be available the entire orientation week
- Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations not accepted
- RTO of up to 5 days allowed but must be made up during the assignment; only 1 holiday RTO request permitted per assignment
- Black scrubs required; no open-toed shoes or other attire permitted
- Located at a Level 2 Trauma Center with Comprehensive Stroke Center and Level 1 STEMI Center designations
- Local candidates accepted, though local candidates are subject to a reduced bill rate
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before requiring a 1-year separation or transfer to a facility outside the radius
