Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU night shift position requiring a NY RN license and prior telemetry/stepdown experience.

Details

• PCU (Progressive Care Unit) setting providing telemetry and stepdown-level care
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with 1:4-5 ratios
• Common diagnoses include long-term pulmonary conditions, ENT surgery, and other surgical cases requiring stepdown care
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7p-7a
• 13-week contract length
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday coverage required, if needed
• Floating required within skillset
• EPIC EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active New York Single State RN license required in hand (NY is not a Compact state)
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Telemetry and stepdown/PCU/DOU/IMC-level care experience required
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Experience with oxygen administration, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management required
• Experience managing cardiac drips (no titration) and administering blood products required
• Central and peripheral line care/management experience required
• IV therapy/phlebotomy and isolation precautions experience required
• EPIC charting experience required

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry and stepdown-level nursing care to adult and geriatric patients
• Work in a Magnet-recognized, academic teaching hospital certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
• Scrub colors limited to navy blue and white, in any combination
• First-time travelers accepted
• Locals within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted for RN positions
• Previous employees may reapply after a 6-month system-wide break in service
