Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring active CA RN license, Epic experience, and prior stepdown or ICU experience.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting including Cardiac Telemetry, MS/Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, and Telemetry
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:00 to 06:30
- 13-week assignment length
- Floating required between sister facilities near the contracted site
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active CA RN license (or Compact) in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Required stepdown or ICU experience
- Required Epic EMR experience
- Skills required: IV therapy/phlebotomy, oxygen administration, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, managing cardiac drips (no titration), procedural sedation administration/monitoring, and isolation precautions/PPE
- Preferred skills: BiPAP/CPAP management, non-invasive airway management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, starting/maintaining IVs, feeding tube care, heparin protocols, and pre/post cardiac cath or surgery care
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Must provide full SSN and DOB for compliance
- Must disclose any prior work history with the health system, including permanent, travel, or per-diem roles
Additional Information
- Provide telemetry and cardiac monitoring care to PCU/stepdown patients, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Administer medications and manage cardiac drips, IV therapy, and respiratory support as needed
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not live within 50 miles of the facility
- Candidates must reside within, or be willing to accept a lower bill rate within, a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Limited RTO accommodation; extensive time-off requests may delay offer approval
- First-time travelers are not preferred for this role due to required stepdown/ICU and Epic experience
