Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift acute care position requiring at least 1 year of experience and an active WI or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg/Tele unit (4N ENT/General Medical) in a Level 2 trauma facility
• 29-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 days and 1:6 nights
• Common diagnoses include abdominal surgeries, ENT surgeries, complex wounds, and general medical cases
• Uses Cerner EMR, transitioning to Epic
• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Tele/monitor techs on unit; RNs not required to read their own strips but can view rhythms on unit monitor
• Charge nurse takes a smaller assignment; agency staff not required to work charge role
• Nurse aide support at 1:8 days and 1:14 nights
• Respiratory equipment used includes CPAP, BiPAP, and Vapotherm, with occasional tracheostomy care (no ventilators)
• No call or standby requirements
• Float rotation to other med/surg units if unit is overstaffed
• Block scheduling attempted when possible, especially for nights

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• BLS (AHA) certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience required
• Experience with IVs, drains, ostomies, wound vacs, NG tubes, and foley catheters required
• Intermediate care background required
• Experience titrating drips such as heparin, insulin, diltiazem, amiodarone, and nitro required
• Electronic Health Record documentation experience required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for post-surgical and general medical patients on a busy telemetry unit
• Unit orientation includes 12 hours of computer training and 12 hours of shadowing
• Scrubs of any color permitted
• Candidates must clock in and out at the facility
• Local candidates within 80 miles may be considered at a reduced pay rate
• Former Marshfield employees must have an end date at least 6 months prior to application
