Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Trauma Med/Surg unit at a Level II Trauma Center requiring 2 years of Med/Surg experience and a TN or compact RN license.

Details

• 34-bed Trauma Med/Surg unit on the 7th floor of the main building
• Patient ratio of 6:1
• Day and night shift tech support with unit secretary coverage 7a-7p
• Uses IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse ox machines, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and iMobile communication technology
• Charting completed in Meditech
• 12-hour shifts, 3 shifts per week with 2 weekends (4 shifts) every 4-week schedule
• Shift hours 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Contract labor floats first, based on rotation among multiple contract staff

Requirements

• Active RN license (TN or Compact)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
• Skilled in prioritizing care, multitasking, starting IVs, basic wound care, and maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration
• One professional reference required
• No gaps in work history of 90+ days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Located within an ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center that also holds Comprehensive Stroke and Certified Chest Pain Center designations
• Expected to provide attentive, compassionate care including bedside shift report and family involvement in care planning
• Navy scrub top and bottom required as uniform
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
