Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift Progressive Care Unit position requiring critical care drip and cardiac monitoring skills.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit setting with 34 beds on unit 630 and 25 beds on unit 633
• Patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5 on days and 1:5 to 1:6 on nights
• Unit supported by 2-3 techs depending on census
• Equipment used includes bipaps, high flow O2, Vapotherm, Alaris pumps, cardiac drips, heparin drips, insulin drips, peritoneal dialysis, and wound vacs
• Uses Meditech documentation system
• Night shift schedule of 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
• Every other weekend required
• May float between PCU units or to med-surg floors
• Hourly patient rounding on days and every 2-hour rounding on nights with AIDET communication standards

Requirements

• Active RN license (TN or Compact) required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Critical thinking skills and EKG rhythm interpretation required
• Experience with cardiac, insulin, and heparin drips required
• Peripheral IV skills required
• Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred
• Experience with bipaps, high flow O2, and multiple oxygen delivery systems preferred
• Experience with stroke and post cardiac cath care preferred
• Experience with tube feedings and NG/dobhoff tubes preferred
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
• Professional references required (two required for FL and MO, one for all other states)
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including monitoring of drips, oxygen therapy, and cardiac assessments
• Assist with procedures such as peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, dobhoff/NG tube insertions, central line dressing changes, and wound vac troubleshooting
• Work alongside techs who assist with patient care
• Unit utilizes self-scheduling with 4-week schedules
• Black scrubs required as part of dress code
• Unit has a supportive, team-oriented culture with many travelers extending their assignments
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
