Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring TN or compact RN licensure and ACLS certification.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit setting with two units (34 beds and 25 beds)
• Patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5 on days and 1:5 to 1:6 on nights
• Unit staffed with 2-3 techs to assist with patient care
• Equipment used includes BiPAPs, high flow O2, Vapotherm, Alaris pumps, cardiac drips, heparin drips, insulin drips, peritoneal dialysis, and wound vacs
• Documentation completed in Meditech
• Schedule consists of three 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) with every other weekend required
• May float between PCU units or to med-surg floors
• Hourly rounding required on days, every 2-hour rounding on nights, with AIDET communication practices

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Critical thinking skills and EKG rhythm interpretation required
• Experience with cardiac, insulin, and heparin drips required
• Peripheral IV skills required
• Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred
• Experience with BiPAP, high flow O2, and multiple oxygen delivery systems preferred
• Experience with stroke and post cardiac cath care preferred
• Experience with tube feedings and NG/dobhoff tubes preferred
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required for consideration
• No gaps in work history equaling 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Perform procedures including peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, dobhoff/NG tube insertions, and central line dressing changes
• Troubleshoot wound vacs in conjunction with wound care team
• Utilize techs to assist in patient care
• Unit uses self-scheduling with 4-week schedules
• Black scrubs required
• Team culture emphasizes care like family and strong teamwork
• Most travelers extend their assignment after their first placement on this unit
• Local candidates are not accepted; a 50-mile radius rule applies with no exceptions
