Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN with an active AZ or compact RN license and at least 2 years of ED experience for a float role between the ED and CDU.
Details
- Float between the Emergency Department and CDU (Observation Unit)
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (12:00-00:30)
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric patients
- Meditech charting system used, prior experience preferred but not required
- Weekend and holiday coverage required
- Blocked scheduling cannot be guaranteed
Requirements
- Active RN license (AZ or compact) required
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC
- ESI certification preferred
- Experience with pediatric, psychiatric, respiratory, neurological, and trauma patient populations preferred
- Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and management of ventilated or critically ill patients preferred
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, EKG interpretation, and dysrhythmia management preferred
- Level I or II Trauma Center, teaching hospital, and community hospital experience preferred
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
Additional Information
- Orientation held every Monday and includes non-billable training modules
- First-time travelers accepted if they have more than 2 years of ED experience
- Travel pairs are accepted
- Former permanent employees must wait 12 months before returning as travelers
- Locals and first-time travelers accepted at the same pay rate
- Responsibilities include triage, trauma care, and management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction
- Role may involve care for psychiatric holds, overdose, and behavioral health emergencies
- Requires proficiency in PPE and isolation precautions
