Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Step Down unit position on night shift, requiring high-acuity ICU or stepdown experience and vasopressor titration skills.
Details
- Step Down unit in an acute care hospital setting
- 1:4 patient ratio
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
- Every other weekend required, either Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday depending on rotation
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floats to lower acuity floors within scope as needed
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active RN license (MO or compact) required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Must have worked at the bedside within the last 6 months
- High acuity stepdown or ICU experience required
- Travel experience within the last 6 months required
- Trauma Level II experience required
- Skilled in titration of vasopressors, sedation medications, and insulin drips
- Experience managing trach vents, arterial lines, external pacemakers, and chest tubes
- No exceptions for facial hair that interferes with respirator fit testing
Additional Information
- Care for high-acuity stepdown patients including cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and post-surgical populations
- Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and use of rapid response/code teams
- Skilled nursing duties include wound care, IV therapy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line management
- Navy scrub color required
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Local candidates within 75 miles are not accepted
- Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
- Returning travelers must complete an 18-month period with a required 3-month break in service
- Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week
- Contract length is firm at 13 weeks
