Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with telemetry and ventilator management skills for a Level I trauma teaching hospital assignment.
Details
- ICU unit (7MB MCICU Med/CORICU) at a Magnet, teaching, Level I trauma facility with 500 staffed beds
- Patient population is 70% medical (sepsis, PNA, ARDS, organ failure, DKA) and 30% cardiology (heart failure, post arrest, arrhythmias)
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00am-7:30pm
- Patient ratios are 1:2 days and 1:3 nights
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within scope to other ICU units and boarder areas
- Uses Epic EMR (hardstop requirement) and Pyxis medication system
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of solid MICU experience required
- Must pass a telemetry proficiency exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Level I and Level II trauma experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Required skills: ventilator management, telemetry, and conscious sedation
- Additional required skills include IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, chest tube assistance, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, CVVHD/CRRT, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and IV insulin protocols
- Preferred skills include IV starts, ICP monitoring, PA lines/Swan Ganz, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, Impella, and IABP
Additional Information
- Provide direct ICU nursing care to medically and cardiologically complex patients requiring advanced monitoring and intervention
- Any solid color scrubs permitted, with light blue scrubs also provided on unit
- COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
- Minimal RTO accommodated, with no time off approved during the first two weeks of the assignment
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
- Prior UW/Harborview staff must have an 18-month separation before returning as a travel clinician
- Experienced travelers are prioritized, though first-time travelers with strong ICU experience may be considered
