Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a 13-week night/evening rotation requiring an active NY RN license and EPIC experience.

Details

• ER unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with all emergency-type diagnoses
• 1:5 patient ratio
• 4x12 shift rotation, 2 weeks evenings (3p-3a) and 2 weeks nights (7p-7a)
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Every other holiday coverage required if needed
• Floating required within skillset
• Uses specialized equipment including Bair hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling equipment
• EPIC charting experience required

Requirements

• Active NY Single State RN license required in hand (NY is not a compact state)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; PALS and TNCC preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with IV vasopressors, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilator management
• Experience managing CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and TBI patients
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Emergency care experience including adult/pediatric ED, gunshot wounds, and ortho trauma
• Experience with isolation precautions and triage

• Work in a state-of-the-art, 24/7 ED with centralized layout, advanced diagnostic technology, a dedicated pediatric ED, a crisis intervention unit, and a trauma suite near the ambulance entrance
• Facility is a 528-bed Magnet-recognized academic teaching hospital certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
• Scrub color requirement: any combination of navy blue and white
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Returning staff must wait 6 months system-wide before reapplying
• RTO requests must be submitted at time of application
