Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position on nights, requiring an active NY RN license and Epic experience.

Details

• Adult Emergency Department at a teaching hospital with a dedicated pediatric ED, crisis intervention unit, and trauma suite
• Night shift schedule, 7p-7a, 3x12 hour shifts
• 15-week assignment length
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 for adult and geriatric patients across all emergency diagnoses
• Uses Epic for charting
• Special equipment includes Bair hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling equipment
• Every other weekend requirement
• Every other holiday coverage required, if needed
• Floating required within skillset
• Facility may cancel up to three shifts during a 13-week contract period

Requirements

• Active New York Single State RN license required in hand (pending licenses not accepted)
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; PALS and TNCC preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with IV vasopressors and continuous IV sedation
• CPAP/BiPAP management and care of ventilated patients
• Experience with CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury care
• Cardiac monitoring skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG
• Emergency care experience with adult/pediatric ED cases, gunshot wounds, and ortho trauma
• Experience managing psychiatric patients including acute psychosis, drug overdose, suicidal patients, and violent behavior
• Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE and triage

• Hospital is Magnet-recognized and certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
• Affiliated with Cleveland Clinic and Roswell Park, offering access to specialized services
• Scrub colors limited to navy blue and white, or a combination of both

• Returning staff must have a 6-month system-wide break in service
