Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN for a Level 1 trauma children's hospital requiring recent trach and vent experience and rotating shifts.

Details

  • NICU unit within a Level 1 trauma children's hospital dedicated to premature and critically ill newborns
  • Full range of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists and pediatric anesthesiologists on site
  • Patient ratios vary by acuity, most commonly 1:2 with occasional 1:1, 1:3, or rarely 1:4
  • Day (3x12, 7:00-19:30) and Night (3x12, 19:00-7:30) rotating shifts, rotating every 3-4 weeks (not within the same week)
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Float to other critical care units within scope required, with no age cutoff for patients
  • Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

  • Active DC RN license (pending license accepted with documentation of application date and pending number, must be issued prior to start date)
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU IV experience required
  • Recent trach and vent experience required
  • No background check or license hits permitted, with no exemptions
  • Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide highest level of care for premature and critically ill newborns as designated by the American Academy of Pediatrics
  • Coordinate care for complex conditions including coagulation defects, congenital heart defects, ECMO, gastrointestinal disorders, genetic and metabolic disorders, prematurity, respiratory distress and failure, pulmonary hypertension, renal disorders, and sepsis/septic shock
  • Support complex surgical procedures for congenital or acquired conditions
  • Scrubs may be any color but must be logo-free and child-friendly
  • Missed shifts must be made up within the same week
  • RTO limited to no more than 1 week; missed full weeks must be made up at the end of the contract
  • Photo required upon contract signature if offered and accepted
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
