Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2 years of Level 3 or higher L&D experience and SD or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Level 3 NICU-supported hospital unit with 10 L&D beds, 4 OB ED/Triage beds, and 4 Antepartum rooms
- Cares for high-risk to low-intervention laboring patients, including antepartum, OB triage/ED, postpartum, and infant patients
- Patient ratios: Antepartum 1:3, Inactive Labor 1:2, Active Labor 1:1, Postpartum/Couplet care 1:3 couplets
- Uses EPIC charting system
- 12-hour variable shifts (0630/1830), requiring flexibility to work both days and nights throughout the contract
- Every other weekend rotation required
- May be placed on low census call
- Floating to Postpartum/Couplet care required throughout the contract
- Holiday coverage required as needed
Requirements
- Active SD or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and NRP certification required
- ACLS, inpatient obstetrics, electronic fetal monitoring, or inpatient antepartum certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years Labor & Delivery experience required, preferably in a Level 3 or higher NICU-supported unit
- EPIC charting experience required
- Competency managing high-acuity labor patients, including preeclampsia, preterm labor and delivery, and antepartum patients under 35 weeks gestation required
- Skills required: IV starts, cervical checks, phlebotomy, magnesium sulfate administration, blood administration, insulin administration, C-section circulating, and C-section recovery care
- Must be comfortable caring for couplets and normal newborn nursery (Level I) patients
- Experience with lower acuity NICU (Level II) patients highly preferred
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program required
Additional Information
- Unit support includes a Unit Secretary, Scrub Tech, Charge Nurse, VAT team, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, OB Physician team, and Anesthesia/CRNA
- Orientation includes facility NEO plus 4 days with a preceptor (3 in L&D, 1 in Postpartum)
- Time off requests require manager approval
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility to be considered
- Facility is noted as very traveler-friendly and open to renewing travel contracts
