Description
American Traveler is hiring a Progressive Care Unit RN with telemetry experience for a night shift assignment requiring a KY or compact RN license.
Details
- Acute care Progressive Care Unit (4IC) with 32 beds
- Patient population is primarily post-catheterization patients requiring sheath and TR band management, with TAVR experience preferred
- Unit serves as overflow for chest tube patients and manages a medical population requiring telemetry monitoring
- Nurse to patient ratio ranges from 1:4 to 1:6 depending on acuity
- RNs required to titrate all drips except pressors, paralytics, and TPA
- Charge nurse present on each shift and typically carries a patient assignment
- Care techs available at approximately 1:15 ratio
- Respiratory therapy in-house to assist with CPAP, BiPap, and high flow, though RNs place patients on/off equipment
- Centralized tele monitoring with RNs reading their own strips once per shift and with any rhythm changes
- Night shift schedule with self-scheduling subject to change for balanced coverage
- Weekend requirement of 6 shifts within a 6 week period
- Floating required to other floors as needed
- No call or standby requirements
- Uses EPIC EMR
Requirements
- Active KY State or Compact (NLC) RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- BSN not required
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Manage post-catheterization patients including sheath and TR band care, with additional chest tube management for overflow cases
- Monitor telemetry patients and read own cardiac strips
- Assist with placement of CPAP, BiPap, and high flow oxygen equipment as directed by respiratory therapy
- Holiday coverage required for 2 summer holidays and 3 winter holidays
- Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
- Unit-specific orientation consists of 1-2 shifts
- Galaxy Blue scrub color required
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
- Candidates directly employed by any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year are not eligible
