Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a night shift position requiring Level I Trauma Center experience and CT or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Emergency Department combined adult/pediatric patient population
• Level I Trauma Center with capability for Level II trauma cases, STEMI and stroke certified
• Average patient ratios of 1:6 on both days and nights
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Assigned to one campus with possibility of crosstraining and floating to other campuses and ED observation
• Epic EMR used for charting
• Travelers are not assigned to trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units

Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC
• Preferred certifications: NIHSS, PALS, CPI, ENPC
• 2 years of ER experience preferred; will consider 1.5 years from a Level I Trauma Center or with travel experience
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Epic EMR experience preferred, especially from a similar large facility (500+ beds, urban/inner-city location, ED larger than 60 beds)
• Experience with psychiatric patients, IV therapy, phlebotomy, arterial line and central line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilated patients, chest tube management, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and continuous IV sedation/paralytics
• Experience with neurological emergencies including CVA, ICP monitoring, and traumatic brain/spinal cord injury
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
• Experience managing gunshot wounds, traumatic amputations, and multisystem organ dysfunction
• 1 professional reference required
• Pending license accepted

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a wide range of trauma, medical, psychiatric, and neurological cases
• Responsible for orthopedic splinting and trauma care as needed
• Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Level I Trauma Center, Academic Medical Center setting
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with religious or medical exemptions only
• Open to accommodating block scheduling requests
• RTO requests greater than 7 days require advance approval
• Local candidates not accepted within a 75-mile radius of the facility
• Former staff must have separated from the facility for at least 2 years to return as a traveler
• First-time travelers not accepted for this position
