Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 2 years of pediatric cardiac ICU experience and SC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work in a 29-bed Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU serving as the referral center for major pediatric cardiac surgery in South Carolina
• Care for patients with congenital heart disease across all age ranges with a mix of cardiac surgical and medical diagnoses
• Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 based on acuity
• Unit performs cardiac surgery, Ventricular Assist Devices, heart transplant, cardiac catheterization, ECMO, and CRRT
• All beds are monitored beds
• Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 4 weekend shifts required within a 4-week schedule, plus holiday rotation
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• No on-call requirements
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Travel pairs not accepted for this unit

Requirements

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
• BLS and PALS certification required (American Heart Association only)
• ACLS certification preferred (American Heart Association only)
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric cardiac ICU experience required
• Cardiovascular and pediatric experience required
• VAD experience highly preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Skilled in administration of antiarrhythmics, continuous sedation, and IV vasopressors
• Experience with ventilated patients, chest tube management, and tracheostomy care
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line blood draws, and central/implanted line care
• Experience with congenital heart disease/repair, hemodynamic monitoring, and post-cardiac surgery care
• CRRT experience preferred
• Berlin Heart and HeartMate3 experience preferred
• Driver's license and Social Security number required for consideration

• First-time travelers may be considered
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates accepted at a reduced rate, though non-local candidates are prioritized
• Must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to qualify for standard travel rate
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of application for consideration
• Employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response duties during hurricane season (June through November)
