Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Oncology RN for a night shift hospital position requiring a NC or compact RN license and BLS certification.
Details
- 37-bed Medical Surgical unit caring for a diverse population with oncologic and general medical-surgical needs
- Core patients include those undergoing active cancer treatment, post-surgical oncology cases, and symptom management for neutropenia, pain crises, and disease progression
- Unit supports end-of-life and palliative care when appropriate
- Serves as a primary recovery unit for bariatric surgery patients as part of a Bariatric Center of Excellence
- Chemotherapy management is not typically required on this unit
- Ideal patient ratio of 5:1, with a maximum of 6:1
- Night shift schedule from 6:45 pm to 7:15 am, 3 shifts per week, 36 hours weekly
- Every other weekend required with rotating holiday coverage
Requirements
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a compact state required
- BLS certification required
- Two or more years of RN experience preferred
- One year of acute care or inpatient hospital experience preferred
- ACLS certification may be required for some units, with training provided if needed
Additional Information
- Coordinate and deliver patient care using the nursing process under the direction of a physician and interdisciplinary care team
- Assess, prioritize, and communicate care plans while addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs
- Collaborate with peers and other departments to support clinical operations and patient outcomes
- Promote a safe, clean environment through infection control and standard precautions
- Maintain annual competency assessments per unit checklist
- Rotating holiday coverage required
