Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Oncology RN for night shifts requiring 2+ years of experience and an active NC or compact RN license.
Details
- 37-bed Medical Surgical unit caring for a diverse patient population with oncologic and general medical-surgical needs
- Core patient populations include active cancer treatment, post-surgical oncology, neutropenia, pain crises, and disease progression management
- Unit also supports end-of-life and palliative care as appropriate
- Serves as a primary recovery unit for bariatric surgery patients as part of a Bariatric Center of Excellence
- Minimal oncology census on this floor; chemotherapy management is not typically required
- Ideal patient ratio of 5:1, with a maximum of 6:1
- Night shift schedule, 6:45 pm to 7:15 am, three 12-hour shifts per week
- Every other weekend required
- Rotating holiday coverage required
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or compact) required by start of clinical care
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum two years of RN experience required
- One year of acute care/inpatient hospital experience preferred
- ACLS certification may be required for some units, with training provided if needed
Additional Information
- Coordinate and deliver patient care using the nursing process under the direction of a physician
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team to identify and achieve expected patient outcomes
- Assess and anticipate discharge needs for patients and families, including those with complex care issues
- Communicate with patients and families to develop and update individualized care plans
- Promote a safe, clean, and secure environment through infection control and standard precautions
- Complete annual competency assessments per documented checklists
- Reports to the Nurse Manager/Director
