Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift ICU RN with 2+ years of specialty experience and a WA or compact RN license for a 13-week acute care assignment.

Details

  • Acute care ICU/PCU setting with 82 critical care beds across 3 floors (48 ICU, 34 PCU)
  • Primarily PCU with regular floating to ICU
  • May be required to float to other Region Two facilities (St. Clare Hospital - Lakewood, WA and St. Elizabeth Hospital - Enumclaw, WA) with rate differential when floated outside primary facility
  • Patient ratios: ICU 1:1 or 1:2, PCU 1:3
  • Uses EPIC EMR
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a
  • Every other weekend required (Friday and Saturday nights)
  • Holiday rotation required alongside permanent staff
  • Charge nurse present on each floor along with 2 nurse aides per floor
  • Tele/monitor techs available only in PCU
  • 24/7 RT, pharmacy, and IV team support
  • Dayshift hospitalist/intensivist on site; nights supported via virtual ICU and an in-house ARNP for procedures
  • All critical care drips administered in ICU; PCU limited to cardizem, nitro, insulin, and heparin drips (no pressors, no vents in PCU)
  • Ventilator management required in ICU
  • Float eligible between all ICU and PCU units

Requirements

  • Active WA or Compact RN license required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in specialty required
  • Strong Med-Surg RN background preferred
  • IABP or CRRT experience not required unless previously trained
  • BSN not required for this position
  • Driver's license copy required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care primarily in the PCU with regular floating to ICU as needed
  • Support critical care patients with a wide range of diagnoses
  • Work alongside a collaborative care team including charge nurses, nurse aides, IV team, RT, and pharmacy
  • Unit orientation planned for up to 1 week with an educator, minimum of 2 shifts
  • No scrub color requirements
  • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
  • Candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
