Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring recent telemetry experience, dysrhythmia exam certification, and a 50-mile residency radius for AZ candidates.

Details

• Level 1 trauma acute care hospital setting on a 30-bed Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit
• General and orthopedic trauma stepdown patient population, including chest tubes, drains, wound vacs, and titrating cardiac drips
• 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio on days and nights
• Charge nurse present and does not carry a patient assignment; unit supervisor also on staff
• PCTs available on days, with a PCT or SWAT RN available at night for tasking
• GE telemetry monitors with central monitoring station staffed by a tech
• RT and Pharmacy available 24/7, with ICU pharmacist coverage on days
• House SWAT nurse available for difficult IV access; no dedicated IV team
• 12-hour day shifts, 7am-7pm
• 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun, nights: Fri/Sat)
• One major and one minor holiday coverage required
• First to float, with floating to MedSurg Tele C5 and B2C
• 2 shifts of floor-specific orientation provided
• Uses Cerner EMR

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required, within the past 6 months
• Must be able to read telemetry strips
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer (maximum 2 attempts)
• Must pass a pass/fail sterile technique skills lab on day one of orientation
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to general and orthopedic trauma stepdown patients, including management of chest tubes, drains, and wound vacs
• Utilize 1:1 PCT sitters for confused patients and soft restraints for line pulling as needed
• Spectralink phones used for call light system
• Navy scrub color required
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be considered for this position
• Candidates who were directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year will not be considered
