Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring recent telemetry experience, dysrhythmia exam certification, and a 50-mile residency radius for AZ candidates.
Details
- Level 1 trauma acute care hospital setting on a 30-bed Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit
- General and orthopedic trauma stepdown patient population, including chest tubes, drains, wound vacs, and titrating cardiac drips
- 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio on days and nights
- Charge nurse present and does not carry a patient assignment; unit supervisor also on staff
- PCTs available on days, with a PCT or SWAT RN available at night for tasking
- GE telemetry monitors with central monitoring station staffed by a tech
- RT and Pharmacy available 24/7, with ICU pharmacist coverage on days
- House SWAT nurse available for difficult IV access; no dedicated IV team
- 12-hour day shifts, 7am-7pm
- 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun, nights: Fri/Sat)
- One major and one minor holiday coverage required
- First to float, with floating to MedSurg Tele C5 and B2C
- 2 shifts of floor-specific orientation provided
- Uses Cerner EMR
Requirements
- Active AZ or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience required, within the past 6 months
- Must be able to read telemetry strips
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer (maximum 2 attempts)
- Must pass a pass/fail sterile technique skills lab on day one of orientation
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to general and orthopedic trauma stepdown patients, including management of chest tubes, drains, and wound vacs
- Utilize 1:1 PCT sitters for confused patients and soft restraints for line pulling as needed
- Spectralink phones used for call light system
- Navy scrub color required
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be considered for this position
- Candidates who were directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year will not be considered
