Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level IV NICU position at a teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of NICU or combined adult critical care and NICU experience.
Details
- Level IV NICU setting within a teaching hospital, with willingness to also work Adult floor and ICU units
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
- Weekend shifts required as needed by the unit
- Floating within the hospital required; no floating to sister hospitals
- No on-call requirement
- EPIC charting system used
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience, which may be Adult critical care and NICU combined, or NICU (Level 3/4) experience alone; Adult critical care experience alone does not meet requirement
- Teaching hospital experience required
- LTAC and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required
- BLS and NRP certifications required
- ACLS and PALS certifications preferred
- Washington State Respiratory license required; license required if applicable
- EPIC charting experience preferred
- Experience with NICU Level III or IV patient population
- Familiarity with Servo U ventilator preferred
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care across Adult floor, ICU, and Level IV NICU settings as needed
- Perform neonatal/pediatric procedures including high-frequency jet and oscillating ventilation, bubble CPAP, nasal CPAP/BIPAP, and assist with high-risk deliveries and neonatal transports
- Manage airway care including intubation/extubation assistance, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
- Administer a range of medications and perform chest physiotherapy and pulmonary hygiene procedures
- Care for patients with conditions such as ARDS, aspiration, bronchoscopy, COVID, cystic fibrosis, and fresh tracheostomy
- First-time travelers accepted
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
- RTO limited to a maximum of 1 week and cannot be requested during the first 2 weeks of assignment
- Prior UW staff must have 18 months separation before returning as a traveler
- COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
