Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical/Observation unit role requiring MI licensure and prior travel or relevant unit experience.
Details
- Hospital-based Medical Surgical unit with a 10-bed ER Overflow Observation area
- Patient ratios typically run 1:4-5 on days, up to 1:7 with an RN/LPN team
- Focus on rapid patient reassessment for discharge readiness with frequent admissions and discharges
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 to 19:30
- Every other weekend work required
- Floating to other Med/Surg units required, approximately once per week
- Works alongside a mixed team of RNs, LPNs, and Techs
- Uses Epic charting system (preferred experience)
Requirements
- Active Michigan RN license required
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience required
- ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications preferred
- Travel experience strongly preferred; may substitute with sufficient overall clinical experience
- Recent Observation, Admission, or Short Stay Unit experience preferred for first-time travelers
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral/PICC line management
- Experience managing patients with GI, GU/renal, neuro, respiratory, and endocrine conditions preferred
- Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions preferred
- Proof of flu vaccination required for consideration, with exemption requests submitted within 48 hours of signing

- Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Medical Surgical/Observation environment with frequent turnover
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including RNs, LPNs, and Techs
- Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments
- No holiday time-off requests guaranteed; scheduling subject to manager discretion
- Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a differentiated pay rate
- Previous Bronson travelers may return after 6 months; previous permanent staff after 1 year
- RTO limited to no more than 10 days
- First-time travelers considered only with relevant recent unit experience
