Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Endoscopy RN requiring CA licensure, ACLS/PALS/BLS certification, and 2+ years of general surgery experience in a fast-paced procedure center.

Details

• Pediatric Endoscopy/Procedure Center setting within a children's hospital
• Cares for inpatient and outpatient pediatric patients, with adults on rare occasions
• Performs minor surgical cases including ENT, Plastics, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Urology, Dentistry, and Oncology
• Endoscopy training may be provided if needed, covering GI and Pulmonary procedures
• Documentation in SurgiNet (Cerner)
• 4x10 hour day shifts, 0600-1630
• Weekend coverage required
• Call requirement of 5 weekday and 2 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• No floating required
• 1:1 patient ratio

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required in hand at time of consideration; pending or temporary licenses not accepted
• Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of acute or outpatient experience required, covering the majority of listed specialties
• General surgery experience required
• Cerner (SurgiNet) EMR experience required and must be verified
• Strong skills in a fast-paced work environment required
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Prior travel experience required
• Two supervisor-level references required, from the applicable unit and dated within 1 year of start date or from most recent employer

Additional Information

• Performs minor surgical procedures including central venous line insertion/removal, cholecystectomy, colostomy/ileostomy procedures, hernia repairs, and exploratory laparotomy
• Skilled in administration of blood and blood products, infection control, laser safety, specimen handling, peripheral IV starts, universal protocol time-outs, and urinary catheterization
• Familiarity with pediatric urology, craniofacial/oral/plastics, orthopedic, gynecology, ophthalmology, and ENT procedures
• Experience with equipment such as electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Steris systems is beneficial
• Travelers are prioritized for float assignments when applicable
• Up to 16 hours of orientation modules may be required, completed during orientation shifts
• Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted; no RTO allowed within the first week of assignment
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Former staff must be separated for at least 1 year before reapplying
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
