Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring neurology experience, NIHSS proficiency, and a WA or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Neuro Stepdown/Telemetry unit of an acute care hospital
- Cares for post-surgical neurology patients and various neurology diagnoses including CVA, craniotomy, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00
- Floating between units required
- Weekend work required every other weekend
- No on-call responsibilities
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at submission
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Neurology RN experience required, including comfort with the NIH Stroke Scale and care of post-surgical neurology patients
- Skills in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management and chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac)
- Cardiac monitoring skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with procedural sedation administration and monitoring
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, teaching hospital setting
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to complex neurology and telemetry patients
- May be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; minimal RTO preferred to expedite the process
- Any color scrubs accepted for RN staff
- Former Providence facility employees may return as travelers after a 3-month wait, provided they are not within 50 miles of the facility
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate; radius requirement of 50 miles applies
