Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical ICU night shift position requiring a NY license in hand and Epic charting experience.
Details
- Medical Intensive Care Unit setting with 16 beds
- Patient population includes sepsis, ARDS, renal failure, heart failure, pre-VAD workups, alcohol withdrawal, overdose, multi-organ failure, post cardiac arrest/targeted temperature management, respiratory failure/shock, CRRT, EKOS, IABP, ECMO, and Impella patients
- Nurse to patient ratio of 1:2 with occasional 1:1 based on acuity
- Night shift, 4x12 hours, 1900-0700
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active NY RN license required in hand
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- 1:2 patient ratio experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and emergency response
- Experienced in arterial line and central line management
- Proficient in ventilator care, BiPAP/CPAP management, and ABG interpretation
- Experienced in CRRT/CVVHD and renal replacement therapy management
- Skilled in continuous IV sedation, vasoactive drips, and neuromuscular blockade management
- Experienced in massive transfusion protocol and blood product administration
- Knowledgeable in CVA/acute stroke management and hypothermia protocol
- Experienced with IV insulin protocols and metabolic management
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive critical care to medically complex and multi-organ failure patients
- Perform advanced procedures including 12-lead EKG/ECG, chest tube assistance, and tracheostomy care
- Monitor hemodynamic status using CVP and Swan-Ganz lines where applicable
- Support nurse-driven ECMO protocols
- Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel position
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Returning staff must wait 6 months system-wide before reapplying
- Candidates with more than 10 days of requested RTO will not be considered
