Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a critical care float pool position requiring 2 years of experience, a prior travel assignment, and a DC RN license in hand.

Details

• Critical care float pool role covering overflow MICU/SICU and other ICU/IMC units across the facility
• May be assigned to any ICU or IMC area, including coverage of ICU/IMC boarders throughout the hospital
• Day shift (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:30) or Night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) available
• Rotating 36/48 hour A/P schedule with every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• Cerner charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active DC RN license required in hand
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS also required
• 2 years of recent ICU experience within the last 7 years required
• At least 1 previous travel assignment required for consideration
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy, central line care/management, PICC line management, arterial line management, blood product administration, ventilator care, BiPAP/CPAP management, HFNC, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, cardiac drip titration, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG acquisition, CVA/acute stroke management, and IV insulin protocols
• Additional preferred skills include CVVHD/CRRT, continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery management, FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring, and pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring
• Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience in the past 3 years
• Driver's license copy required at time of consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing support across ICU and IMC units as needed based on staffing office assignment
• Candidates must complete facility- and unit-specific training modules within one week of signing their contract
• Labs and drug screening appointments must be completed within 48 hours of signing
• Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with at least 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within a 60-mile radius
• Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• Manager interviews are not guaranteed; candidates must be comfortable proceeding without one
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position due to the required prior travel assignment
